As someone who doesn’t have a daughter of my own, a dream began stirring in me — to pass on the beloved, ancient Rosh Chodesh rituals to the next generation of girls.✨ 🌕 Israeli Mystic Poem on Rosh Chodesh: “Leisure of mama, grandma, and the aunts gliding in a boat of light, slowly floating in the small boat of peace with the moon and the heavenly bodies.” — Zelda, Pnei HaOr (The Face of Light) While Rosh Chodesh (blessing beneath the new moon) is a gift for everyone, it carries a special resonance for women — a time given to us because of our innate emunah (faith) and deep connection to the lunar cycles and rhythms of renewal. Recently, I had the honor of holding a Rosh Chodesh ceremony for a dear friend’s daughter before her bat mitzvah —co-facilitating alongside @rachael_brody in her holy homestead with niggunim, botanical craft, poetry, blessings, and ritual. Watching bat-mitzvah girl Noa receive this ancient lunar ritual with such openness and reverence was one of the highlight of my soul’s work. The new moon in Cheshvan invites us inward.💧 Cheshvan is the month of building our peaceful, spacious inner arks—vessels that sustain us through turbulent waters, just as Noah entered the Teiva (Ark) this month during the Great Flood. There is less to do in Cheshvan (the root of the word means “silent”)—this is a quiet month of restoration and repair. Once we build our inner arks of safety and trust, we can sink into stillness to integrate all the energy and inspiration received in Tishrei. No holidays, no outer rituals—only the inner temple. In the Kabbalistic Tree of Life diagram, there are both circles and lines — the blueprint of how divine energy flows. The circles are pools of vitality, seats of life-force where energy rests and gathers. The lines are pathways of consciousness, connecting each pool and guiding the flow of divine light. This means that each Sefirah has its own energy — yet also flows into all the other Sefirot. We can explore a single pool in depth, or move with the interplay between them, seeing how they harmonize and affect one another. 🌕 Circle = feminine — holding, containing, receiving. ☀️ Line = masculine — movement, connection, progression. There are 22 lines/paths connecting the Sefirot, corresponding to the 22 Hebrew letters — spiritual forces, building blocks of reality. The paths show how divine light flows, how consciousness evolves, and how different qualities integrate. The right side of the Tree is expansive, giving, outward-moving energy. The masculine side.
