New Moon Ceremony: Tending to Grief & Sorrow (Tammuz & Summer Solstice)

New Moon Ceremony: Tending to Grief & Sorrow (Tammuz & Summer Solstice)
Wednesday, June 25th | 5:00–8:00pm
Facilitated by Jenna Zadaka & Mitten Lowe

Join us for a ceremonial evening of emotional tending and communal care during the month of Tammuz — a time in the Hebrew calendar known for inviting us into the heart of sorrow. Together, we will create a compassionate space to witness grief, soften into presence, and reconnect to the deeper currents of healing.

Tammuz and Av are often called the “two weeping eyes” of sacred time. Tammuz, in particular, invites us to sit with sadness and the truth of destruction — personal, collective, ancestral.

In this season of the summer solstice, the chush (spiritual sense) to rectify is our sight: the capacity to truly see suffering, within and around us, and to expand our awareness to hold more. One of the names for G-d in Torah is Be’er L’Chai Roi — the Living Well of the One Who Sees Me. In our circle, we will practice both seeing and being seen, gently exploring the emotions we often turn away from.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Grounding into sacred time with Jenna, and exploring sorrow through a spiritual and embodied lens

  • Embodied preparation with Mitten, offering plant medicine and somatic tools for holding grief with compassion

  • Gentle, slow yoga flow to open toward what contracts us physically, followed by a restorative herbal eye bath
(Optional: a seated meditation will be offered if you prefer stillness to movement)

  • Song and intuitive dance to move any emotions through the body and into expression

Who This Group Is For:This space is co-created by and for those who identify as women or nonbinary who are drawn to feminine, earth-based mystical Judaism. It’s for folks eager to step outside their comfort zones for connection and healing, and who wish to anchor themselves to sacred time by the moon, guided by ancient Jewish practices and herbal ancestral wisdom. We believe in the power of the circle - there are no leaders and followers, we each contribute with our unique presence and offerings. Each circle is grounded and crafted based on the unique spiritual energies of the Hebrew month.

Important Note:This group is not for everyone. Please join only if you are open or curious to the full embrace of "Jewish witchy ways” (such as dancing under the moon, kabbalistic meditations, plant-work, Jewish chanting, marking sacred time by the moon, spiritual somatic work, deepening into vulnerability, and seeking spiritual intimacy with the Shekhina). If you’re not open to these practices, we respect your decision to opt out. Every participant deeply impacts the energy of the circle—please do not attend if you are bringing any energy that is judgmental or non supportive.
